Underneath Michael’s mild-mannered exterior lie a wry sense of humor and an admirable past as both a state record-holder in track and an Air Force officer with top-secret security clearance. He helped establish The Trust Company’s Lawrence, Kansas branch and now chairs the Investment Committee.
This international man of mystery earned a bachelor’s in Economics from Kansas State University while maintaining scholarships in track and AFROTC. After getting his MBA at the University of Wyoming and being awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for serving as a Minuteman ICBM Combat Crew Launch Officer, Michael transitioned to the relatively less harrowing financial services industry.
In his previous associations with Bank of America (Bank IV-Wichita), Salomon Smith Barney and Douglas County Bank, he enjoyed sharing his expertise in investment portfolio management and trust and estate administration to help clients through many life-changing events.
“There is nothing quite so satisfying as helping people pursue their financial and life goals.”
Michael is a member of the Lawrence Breakfast Cosmo Club, a volunteerism and fundraising group that supports Lawrence’s Health Care Access clinic for the uninsured, and many other worthy causes. He is also a member of Lawrence Rotary and previously served on the boards of The American Heart Association and the Humane Society in Wichita, Kansas.
He may be coaxed into doing his wicked Kermit the Frog impersonation, if it’s for a good cause or the grandchildren request it. He is also known as something of a Warren Buffett/Charlie Munger devotee.
Michael and his wife, Gerri, have two sons and nine grandchildren.
