Born and raised in the Lee’s Summit, MO area, Alex Bertz brings a rich tapestry of experiences and skills to his role as a Trust Officer and Wealth Advisor at The Trust Company. With a Juris Doctorate and a Tax Law Certificate from Washburn School of Law, coupled with a B.S. in History and a minor in Political Science from the University of Central Missouri, Alex's academic journey is as diverse as it is impressive. Alex plans to sit for the Kansas Bar Exam in February 2025.

While in school, Alex was deeply involved in extracurricular activities, including rugby, where he served as a team captain and organizational president. He also participated in AMTA Mock Trial, achieving great success with his team. His professional journey has been equally varied, from delivering beer and working as a bouncer to fulfilling roles in foster care, a bankruptcy firm, and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

Alex is known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and adaptability. He firmly believes in excelling at things that require no talent, such as punctuality, courtesy, respect, and preparation. This philosophy, inspired by Marcus Aurelius, guides his professional approach.

In his personal life, Alex enjoys reading and cooking outdoors – anything on the grill or a boil pot. His love for history often finds him immersed in ancient texts. He has a wonderful wife, Stacey, and three beloved dogs: Gus, Bella, and Benji.

An active community member, Alex dines monthly with a local retirement community's lunch bunch and has participated in significant volunteer efforts, including the Joplin tornado cleanup and a water drive for Jackson, MS.
